My Auto Stimulus Plan

In mid-December I had an idea to stimulate the economy in regards to the auto bailout plan.  I ran this by a few of my good friends and then didn’t do anything with it.  One of the friend’s I shared this idea with sent me a link on January 17th, 2009 to a site where you could give ideas to president-elect (at the time) Barack Obama. 

The ideas were supposed to be collected, then bound together and presented to the President to form a citizen submitted action plan of ideas to help him with his presidency.  I decided, “What the hell?” and submitted my idea.  I watched it for a few days and no one voted on it.  So, I thought… “at least I tried”.  They took the site down on January 18th, 2009 so that they could compile the book and give to Obama on Inauguration Day.  I didn’t realize that at the time and just thought my idea wasn’t any good. 

I went through all the Auto bailout suggestions and there were hundreds… some that were totally silly and some very good, but mine was unique to those.  I can no longer provide a link to the article, as they have all been taken down… I hope they change that and later decide to post everyone’s ideas and continue to take more.

Today, that same friend who encouraged me to send in the article, sent me a link to this press conference.  The conference occurred yesterday (2/6/2009) with President Obama and I have included below.

You cannot imagine how excited I was to watch that CNN spot.  I don’t know if I made a difference or not… don’t really care that much.  I do think that his suggestion definitely parallels the idea I submitted and I support what he’s trying to do here.  I hope this goes through congress and if you have any way to support it, I encourage it.
